Equipment Operation & Maintenance
The Equipment Operation and Maintenance
courses vary in length but all include both
classroom and hands-on training. All courses
meet the requirements of the B149.1-05
Natural Gas and Propane Installation code,
the B149.2-05 Propane Storage and Handling
as well as all other Provincial
requirements.

TO REGULATIONS
Connection and Use of Construction Heaters
up to 400,000 BTUH
(PTI 400-01) (1/2 Day) (E/F)
Intended For:
Workers in construction, film, hospitality
or manufacturing who use construction
heaters, vapour torches, steamers or
special effects.
Course Content:
Handling,
storage, transporting and installation of
propane cylinders and the safe use and
installation of construction heaters and
hand held propane vapour torches.
Prerequisites:
none
Valid for:
3 years
Working Safely with Natural Gas Construction Heaters
(NG 400-1) (1/2 day) (E)
Intended For:
Construction workers who use natural gas
construction heaters.
Course Content:
Developed by Enbridge and Union Gas, the course covers natural
gas awareness, legislative requirements,
connection of heaters to the gas meter and
safe operating procedures for natural gas
construction heaters up to 400,000 BTU’s.
Prerequisites:

Valid for:
3 years
Inspection and Maintenance of Construction
Heaters
(PTI 400-02) (1 day) (E)
Intended For:
Rental company workers who inspect and
maintain construction heaters up to 400,000
BTU.
Course Content:
B149.2-05 Propane Storage and Handling Code
requirements concerning the inspection,
maintenance and inspection documentation of
propane construction heaters.
Prerequisites:
PTI 400-1
Valid for:
3 years
Propane Fuelled Hot Tar or Bitumen
Roadtankers and Kettles
(PTI 400-05) (½
day) (E)
Intended For:
Roofers, road crews, construction and
industrial workers who use liquid torches,
tar pots and roadtankers.
Course Content:
Handling,
storage, transportation and installation of
propane cylinders, lighting propane burners
and torches, procedures for safe operation
and emergency procedures.
Prerequisites:

Valid for:
3 years
Connection and Use of Propane Torches
(PTI 400-08) (3 hrs) (E)
Intended For:
Roofers, construction and industrial workers
who use vapour torches for roofing
membranes, shrink wrapping and other
applications.
Course Content:
Handling,
storage, transportation and installation of
propane cylinders, lighting propane torches,
safe operation and emergency procedures.

none
Valid for:
3 years
BBQ Safety
( BBQ-01) (2 hrs) (E)
Intended For:
Company, municipal or institutional workers
who operate BBQ’s in the workplace.
Course Content:
Characteristics of propane, connection and
disconnection of propane cylinders, BBQ
equipment & safeties and the proper
operation & maintenance of BBQ equipment.

Valid for:
FSN recommends 3 years
