Propane & Natural Gas Vehicle Conversions &
Inspections
The Propane Vehicle courses include both the
ICE (Internal Combustion Engine) and vehicle
inspection programs. Both types of programs
involve classroom and hands-on training. All
courses meet the requirements of the
B149.5-05, Installation Code for Propane
Fuel Systems and Tanks on Highway Vehicles,
the B109-01 Natural Gas of Vehicles
Installation Code Provincial requirements
and other Provincial requirements. Students
complete both written and hands-on testing
and receive a license from TSSA for the ICE
programs and a certificate from the Propane
Training Institute for the others.

ICE-P (Internal Combustion Engine – Propane) (ICE-P) (2 days) (E)
Intended For:
Mechanics who convert engines to propane or
service propane powered engines.
Course Content:
Fundamentals
of propane, propane storage and transfer,
ignition and propane, propane equipment as
well as basic wiring and fuel management
Prerequisites:
Mechanics license or equivalent
Valid for:
3 years
ICE-IV-P (Internal Combustion Engine – Industrial Vehicle – Propane) (ICE-IV-P) (2 Days) (E)
Intended For:
Technicians who convert, service and
maintain industrial vehicles such at
forklifts and ice machines.
Course Content:
Fundamentals
of propane, propane storage and transfer,
ignition and propane, propane equipment as
well as basic wiring and fuel management
Prerequisites:
None
Valid for:
3 years
ICE-NG (Internal Combustion Engine – Natural Gas) (ICE-NG) (2 Days) (E)
Intended For:
Mechanics who convert engines to natural gas
or service natural gas powered engines.

Highway Vehicle Conversion & Inspection
(PTI 200-01) (1/2 day) (E)
Intended For:
Mechanics who complete the 5 year vehicle
inspection on propane powered engines.
Course Content:
Procedures for inspection of propane tanks,
remote fills, piping & tubing, hose &
fittings & engine equipment.
Prerequisites:
ICE-P
Valid for:
3 years
Visual Re-Inspection of ASME Containers on
Highway Vehicles
(PTI 200-02) (1/2 day) (E)
Intended For:
Technicians who complete the 5 year vehicle
tank inspections on propane powered
vehicles.
Course Content:
Procedures for inspecting, re-stamping and
recording the inspection of propane tanks on
highway vehicles.
Prerequisites:
PTI 100-1 or PTI 200-1
Valid for:
3 years
