Propane Refueling
The propane refueling courses are
approximately a half day in length and
include both classroom and hands-on
training. Course materials were developed
by the Propane Training Institute/Propane
Gas Association of Canada and most are
available in both English and French (E/F).
All courses meet the requirements of the
B149.2-05 Propane Storage and Handling Code
as well as all Provincial legislation. All
students complete a written and hands-on
testing and receive a certificate from the
Propane Training Institute.

Propane Pump Attendant
(PTI 100-01) (1/2 day) (E/F)
Intended For:
Propane service station attendants who fill
cylinders & vehicles.
Entry level positions
in the propane industry to provide basic
propane knowledge
Course Content:
Physical properties of propane, filling
equipment, propane cylinders, emergency
response, procedures for filling both
cylinders by weight and by volume, filling
auto propane tanks.
Prerequisites:
none
Valid for:
3 years
Note:
This is a recognized Record of Training in
Ontario and is the approved filling course
in Atlantic Canada
Filling Propane Cylinders
(PTI 100-08) (1/2 day) (E/F)
Intended For:
Propane service station attendants who fill
propane cylinders but not propane vehicles.
Course Content:
Physical properties of propane, filling
equipment, propane cylinders, emergency
response and procedures for filling
cylinders by weight and by volume.
Prerequisites:
none
Valid for:
3 years
Filling Auto Propane Tanks
(PTI 100-02) (3 hrs) (E/F)
Intended For:
Drivers & attendants who refuel auto propane
tanks, typically at cardlocks, keylocks and
on-site dispensers.
Course Content:
Physical properties of propane, filling
plant equipment, motor fuel tanks , auto
propane filling procedures, emergency
procedures.

Filling Propane Carburetion Cylinders by
Volume
(PTI 400-04)
(1/2 day) (E/F)
Intended For: Industrial workers who
fill carburetion cylinders by the volume
method. Typically for forklifts, ice
machines or other industrial equipment.
Course Content:
Physical properties of propane, filling
equipment, propane cylinders, cylinder
filling and exchange procedures, emergency
procedures.

Propane Carburetion Cylinder Exchange
(PTI 400-06) (3 hrs) (E)
Intended For:
Operators of propane powered off road
vehicles such as forklifts, zambonis and
scissor lifts who need to exchange the
propane cylinder.
Course Content:
Physical properties of propane, cylinders,
cylinder exchange procedures, emergency
procedures.
