Equipment Operation & Maintenance 

The Equipment Operation and Maintenance courses vary from a half day to 2 days in length and include both classroom and hands-on training. Course materials are provided to each student and most are available in English and French. All courses meet the requirements of the B149.1-05 Natural Gas and Propane Installation code, the B149.2-05 Propane Storage and Handling as well as all other Provincial requirements.

Connection and Use of Construction Heaters up to 400,000 BTUH (PTI 400-01)

This program teaches construction workers how to properly store propane cylinders, connect and operate propane construction heaters and vapour torches. It is also used as a base program to teach workers how to properly use steamers and other types of propane heaters.

Working Safely with Natural Gas Construction Heaters (NG 400-1)

For those using natural gas construction heaters this provides the basics for connection and use of them up to 400,000 BTU’s.

Inspection and Maintenance of Construction Heaters (PTI 400-02)

For companies who rent out or own their own construction heaters, this is for those who complete the inspection, maintenance and documentation of the heaters.

Propane Fuelled Hot Tar or Bitumen Roadtankers and Kettles (PTI 400-05)

Road crews and roofers who use roadtankers, kettles and liquid torches need this program to learn the basics of liquid propane and proper use of the equipment.

Connection and Use of Propane Torches (PTI 400-08)

Industrial or roofing companies who use propane torches for such applications as shrink wrapping or roof membranes learn the basics of propane as well as proper operating procedures for vapour torches.

BBQ Safety ( BBQ-01)

FSN’s BBQ course was developed for those who are using BBQ’s in the workplace. The program reviews the characteristics of propane and the proper operation of residential or commercial BBQ’s.
