Propane & Natural Gas Heaters

The heater operation and maintenance courses vary in length but all include both classroom and hands-on training. All courses meet the requirements of the B149.1-15 Natural Gas and Propane Installation code, the B149.2-15 Propane Storage and Handling as well as all other provincial requirements. Upon successful completion of this course, students receive a Record of Training (ROT).

Propane Construction Heaters and Torches

Course Details

This course teaches how to safely use a propane-powered construction heater and torch up to 400,000 BTUH. Both direct and indirect fired heaters are discussed.

The course is intended for workers in construction or manufacturing who use construction heaters and/or vapour torches. Additionally, this course is used as an introduction to propane for individuals using mobile food equipment, appliances at exhibitions and special effects.

Length of Course: 4 Hours
Prerequisites: None
Validity: 3 Years

Note:

This course does not allow for the operation of construction heaters and torches greater than 400,000 BTUH.

 

If you wish to operate a construction heater or torch greater than 400,000 BTUH, you must complete this course as a prerequisite or be a G2 gas fitter.

 

Natural Gas Construction Heaters

Course Details

This course teaches how to safely use natural gas-fuelled construction heaters up to 400,000 BTUH. This course is intended for construction workers who use natural gas meters to supply their natural gas heaters.

Validity: 3 Years

ROT holders of this course cannot operate natural gas construction heaters over 400,000 BTUH.

Propane Tarpot and Kettles

Course Details

This course teaches how to safely use propane-fueled hot tar or bitumen roadtankers or kettles. It is intended for roofers, road crews, construction and industrial workers who use vapour or liquid torches, tar pots and roadtankers. The course is also used as a base for those operating steamers or hot boxes.

Propane Heater Repair

Course Details

This course has been designed for individuals who wish to inspect and maintain construction heaters up to 400,000 BTU. It is intended for rental company srvice repairmen.

Length of Course: 8 Hours
Prerequisites: Propane Construction Heaters
Validity: 3 Years
